The Importance of: Thinking About Your Wedding Flowers

Although not the number one, most important part of your Wedding, your flowers contribute to making your day memorable, and they form a BIG part of your décor. You will spend time working particular flowers into your theme/colour scheme and finding your perfect florist who is on exactly the same page as you when it comes to what you want.

And the advice…Think about your Wedding flowers!

Avoid scrambling around the morning after your Wedding, delegating flowers to everyone helping you clear up. It’s likely that you’ll want to hold onto all of your flowers because “they’re just so pretty”, but you know deep down, it’s not possible.

We’ve designed a list of do’s and don’ts which will help you realise the importance of thinking about your wedding flowers.

DON’TS

  • Not make a plan

Failing to plan can sometimes lead to uncertainty. When a venue is in charge of making sure your Wedding not only goes smoothly, but also perfectly, it is helpful for coordinators to have a clear list of what to do. As a venue ourselves, we have our own dedicated Clean Up Team, who work tirelessly the day after your Wedding to get all your décor etc. in order ready for you to collect.

It is also important to prioritise, so that all the most important things are seen to first and foremost (read more about that here).

DO’S

The BIGGIE: Come up with a plan prior to your Wedding Day about what you want to do with your flowers AFTER your Wedding Day.

  • Make your Wedding Planner/Coordinator aware of what you want to do
  • Announce that guests can take them home

This is something you could get your DJ or entertainment to announce, or you could even grab the mic yourself. By informing your lovely guests that they can take a bunch or bouquet of flowers home with them, you’re not wasting any money, floristry effort and your guests will be reminded of your day for a long while after!

  • Take any leftovers to a hospital or nursing/care home

This is a really lovely idea. You’ll be giving something back to the community, and it is sure to brighten everyone’s day. Don’t forget to check with your desired location (hospital, care home etc.) whether it is ok to do this.
