If you’re dream Wedding is a country-chic rustic one, then we must let you in on what may seem like a secret but is practically established fact: rustic weddings are NOT cheap. Although bringing the outdoors in is a new and favoured trend, and one that we just adore as it’s perfect at our barn venue, we do find that expectations are sometimes that a rustic Wedding is cheaper.
We could just blame it all on Pinterest helping to popularise the wedding theme, but it also comes down to the DIY desire many people seem to have. Surprisingly, all the little costs involved in DIY (think creating your own decorations, or upcycling milk churns, or hand-making hessian bunting) can add up to a big chunk of your budget.
We suggest thinking through your budget before receiving a quote from any venue. And definitely, don’t rely on solely homemade decorations, go for a venue that also offers props…we do! – and plenty of them at that! It may be suitable for you to insure your Wedding too (read more about this here).
It’s great if you have a flexible budget to spend that little bit extra on making your venue look dreamy with homemade décor, but we suggest only a little DIY. DIY-ing everything can result in more cost than you would think so do a few things yourself, and let your suppliers and/or Wedding Coordinators do the rest. Not doing everything yourself will also save you a lot of stress!
